Today I just thought of explaining Cloud Computing in simple terms so that a non-professional can also understand, what’s the fuss all about.
In earlier day’s any software used to come in compact disks, which we have to buy install & run on our PC’s/laptops etc.
The disadvantage of this model was, when a new version of the software used to come, the consumer has to buy a new disk & in some instances the older version of the software wasn’t no longer supported.
This model is detrimental for both the owners & consumers.
1) The consumer is pissed of buying a new version every
now & then.
2) The problems faced on consumer’s side which can be:
malware attacks & re-installation of the software
hardware not supported etc..
Even from the owner’s side from piracy to protection & upgrades everything was a big problem.
Its defined as the practice of using a network of remote servers hosted on the Internet to store, manage, and process data, rather than a local server or a personal computer.
The Game ‘World of war-crafts’ is a perfect example for this. All the issue’s mentioned above are solved with this! the owner now has more control over his groupware.
Since almost everything is stored on the server side, the consumer is saved big time from upgrading, securing his content.
